Report Day 9: Saturday, February 16, 2002

We have the impression that we are scattering seeds (Matt. 13:3-9) here. We are cooperating with the Lord, the sower, to scatter seeds, which are the word of the kingdom (Matt. 13:19). The Lord Himself is in this word as life (Matt. 13:4, footnote 1).

We passed out about 220 Bibles today, many to families and young people.

  • A mother brought her daughter to the table because she had received a Recovery Version the day before and wanted her daughter to receive one also.
  • A young couple who had just been recently saved needed a Bible, so they received the Recovery Version.
  • Some of us gathered in the motor home for an hour with three young people. They asked if they could pray; one girl prayed for 20 minutes.
  • A volunteer pointed out our table set-up to a woman walking with three children and told her that she could stop by to get a free Bible. She did and got Bibles for herself and her three children.

We also met some visitors to the Olympics who had received their New Testament Recovery Versions on previous BfA tours:

  • One person had received a Bible from us at the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California around New Year's Day.
  • A Christian couple from Phoenix said they received Bibles in New York during last year's "Word of Truth USA" cross-country tour. They asked us if they could have some of our brochures to distribute.

A reporter with the Herald Journal (Logan, UT) interviewed our crew today. Excerpts from the article, published on February 17, can be viewed at http://www.biblesforamerica.org/olympics/media.htm.
