Day 8: Friday, February 15, 2002 |
|
Last
night two boys and a girl knocked on the door of the motor home.
They had come the night before, but no one was there, so they came
back last night. We invited them into the motor home and spent twenty-five
minutes with them. They loved the footnotes of the Recovery Version
New Testament, saying, “Wow.” We prayed together at the end, and
the girl prayed a wonderful prayer, asking the Lord to bless our
ministry and further our work.
Here are some other stories from the day:
- Most of the
ones who came to our motor home location today were Christians.
They seemed to have been referred to us by others and sought us
out to get a Bible.
- A group of
young girls came by and wanted Bibles. They were students in Canada.
They were amazed by the footnotes in the Recovery Version, and
each of them received a Bible.
- A group of
people came along a few minutes later. One young man said he had
just preached the gospel and gave away his Bible. He asked for
a Recovery Version New Testament and said that he wanted one for
each of the ten friends with him so that they could give them
out to people they met later.
- Hundreds
of thousands of people passed by us today. They were waiting in
line upon line, so some were standing right in front of us. We
spoke words of life to them while they stood there, whether or
not they took a Bible.
- A man who
came to the table was a translator and was checking out the Recovery
Version by looking up Romans 3:25 and the footnote. Then he opened
to John 17:2 and told us if the Recovery Version translated it
properly, he would take one. He took a Recovery Version.
- A man came
by our table for third time today. He had gotten a New Testament
earlier, so we asked him if he had been reading it. He said that
he had started in Matthew and read the first two verses and the
footnotes.
Today a news crew came to the motor home and requested an interview.
The German television station Stat 1 did a fifteen minute filmed
interview with us. They then filmed the motor home with our banners
of 1 Timothy 3:16, which says, “All scripture is God breathed,”and
of our offer of a free Recovery Version. They ended by filming two
people at our table happily receiving the New Testament Recovery
Version.
Laboring by His grace,
