This morning we focused our morning prayer on Hebrews 12:2 and footnote
2, part of which says, "It is by being attracted by His [Christ's]
charming beauty that we look away from all things other than Him.
Without such a charming object, how could we look away from so many
distracting things on this earth?" We prayed many would see
and be charmed by our lovely Lord Jesus.
Today we met
a woman who had received a New Testament Recovery Version yesterday.
She had already looked up some verses that were suggested to her
in a letter she had received earlier. As she read them in her Recovery
Version New Testament she was, in her words, "charmed."
We believe her experience was a direct answer to our prayer.
Three
Salvation Army volunteers came to one of our tables and visited
for a while. They asked us if we were born again, and upon hearing
our affirmative answer, they prayed, "Father, bless this work.
Your word will not return void." They each signed up for a
New Testament, and we had a good time of fellowship together. We
opened to John 3:16 and shared from the footnotes on "believing
into" with them, which sparked something in everyone. One sister
began to overflow with personal experience and further inquiry.
We encountered
a young man and after conversing with him for a while, we found
out at one point in his life he had injured his knee and prayed
to be healed to play basketball again. He had prayed to "the
real God." He also received a Recovery Version New Testament.
A man approached
one of our tables. Although he was in a hurry, he still desired
to receive the New Testament. We showed him a footnote, and he was
very impressed. He informed us his father had recently led a prayer
breakfast with George W. Bush and thought he would be interested
in the Recovery Version New Testament.
Looking
away unto Jesus,
