Report Day 14: Thusday, February 21, 2002

Today was a very fruitful travel day for the BfA crew. We left Boise, Idaho around ten o'clock this morning and stopped three or four times on our way to Portland, Oregon. At each stop, we handed out brochures and Bibles. We had some wonderful experiences on our journey:

  • We stopped at a gas station after driving for a long stretch. A car pulled in behind us, and a couple of people got out of the car and told us they had been following us for miles, hoping that we would stop so that they could get free Bibles!
  • At another gas station, a mother had come to bring lunch to her son, who was an attendant at the gas station. She said that she had recently lost her 12-step recovery Bible. We explained that our use of the word "recovery" does not refer to recovery from alcohol or other substance abuse but that it refers to the regaining of lost biblical truths. She said that she needed something to read, so both she and her son received Recovery Version New Testaments, saying that they would study it together.

We handed out 35 Bibles before arriving at six o'clock to a welcome dinner provided by some BfA volunteers. We spent some time relating to them our experiences on the trip, and all were encouraged.
