Report Day 10: Sunday, February 17, 2002

This morning we worshipped the Lord at a bread-breaking meeting with some fellow Christian believers in Salt Lake City. Many volunteers from different cities and of all ages were there, yet we met in oneness to enjoy the Lord's table meeting. We were all supplied by the Lord in the meeting. Our enjoyment of Christ strengthened us for the day and overflowed from us as nearly forty of us went out to preach the gospel and offer people Recovery Version New Testaments. In four hours, we gave away 269 Bibles.

We tried something new today: singing hymns while distributing literature. Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God." A group of us, including some junior high and high school young people, sang to passersby while other volunteers handed out literature and Bibles.

  • One volunteer was showing a Christian brother the unique features of the New Testament Recovery Version when a couple of people walked up and said, "We just came here to thank you for our Bible. We really like it." The volunteer thanked the couple and told them they could tell others about the Bible, to which they responded that they already had.
  • When three police officers approached our table, we thought we were in trouble, but actually they just wanted to see if everything was okay. One introduced himself as a sergeant and said to let him know if anyone bothered us.
  • Today we spoke with people from Ecuador, Africa, and the Middle East. Even though some we contacted did not receive a Bible, we still enjoyed sharing with people about God and the Bible.

Singing with grace,
The "Salt Lake City Tour" Crew
