Fall Motor Home Tours
The Midwest and Southern States Motor Home Tour concluded on November 16, after traveling through eight states to distribute free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version. Through this tour and the Mountain States Motor Home Tour, which concluded on October 22, over 15,000 free Bibles were given away by Bibles for America (BfA) this fall.
At the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, a student who had never owned or read a Bible before received a New Testament Recovery Version. Also at this campus, three Christians came to the table to encourage the BfA volunteers. They didn’t want to take free Bibles because they wanted others to have them. But after they saw the outlines and footnotes of the Recovery Version, each signed up for a copy.
At Central Michigan University (Mount Pleasant) many students said that they had read footnotes from their classmates’ New Testaments and came to the distribution table to get their own copy.
Heavy showers did not hinder the spread of the Word at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. Though it was raining and the distribution table was set up outdoors, 291 students, faculty, and staff members received free Bibles. An older student who was a pastor took some Bible-offer brochures to give to his congregation.
Christian Leaders Distribution Project
In November, BfA resumed mailing free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version to 2,000 leaders of Christian groups each week. These mailings are part of a special project launched in May that provides free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version to leaders nationwide from various denominational backgrounds. Our hope is that the Recovery Version will become an invaluable resource to these leaders in their study of God’s Word and in their ministry to God’s people.
Many pastors who received a New Testament Recovery Version through this project have contacted us to inquire about the availability of the Holy Bible Recovery Version. Some said they will recommend the Recovery Version to other people. As contributions allow, BfA will continue mailing free Bibles to Christian leaders next year.
Spanish Section
Beginning next year, volunteers will distribute the Gospel of John with footnotes in Spanish along with offers for a free New Testament Recovery Version.
BfA will also offer the books in our free literature series in Spanish (Basic Elements of the Christian Life, vols. 1–3, The All-inclusive Christ, and The Glorious Church) to people who have received copies of the New Testament Recovery Version in Spanish.
The New Testament Recovery Version in French
The New Testament Recovery Version in French will be available from the publisher in December. For more information, please contact Living Stream Ministry at books@lsm.org. Bibles for Canada, BfA’s affiliate, is obtaining copies for distribution to French-speaking people in Canada.
Let His Word Run
For the last two years, BfA has hosted a nationwide distribution event from mid-October through December called Let His Word Run. This year, volunteers in 16 cities are participating in this concerted effort to distribute free Bibles and Bible-offer brochures. Volunteers pledged to distribute over 5,000 Bible-offer brochures by giving away one each day during the event period. Participants are also sponsoring mailings of Bible-offer brochures to entire U.S. zip codes. Over 280,000 Bible-offer brochures will be mailed to Hilo, Hawaii; Fresno, California; Denver and Fort Collins, Colorado; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; northern California; and two counties in Kansas.
University of Alaska in Fairbanks
In October, BfA volunteers from five cities distributed free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. In three days, 75 students, faculty, and staff members received free Bibles.
Please Remember in Prayer
Pray that the over 15,000 people who received free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version during the fall motor home tours will read them with a prayerful heart. May God bless all of the seeds of the Word that were sown this fall, and may He cause the growth of these seeds in the coming months.
Pray for the volunteers in Southern California who will participate in the test program of the new distribution model offering Bibles and literature to Spanish-speaking people. Pray that Spanish-speaking people will be open to receive the New Testament Recovery Version and study the Bible with BfA volunteers in their communities.
Pray for the thousands Christian leaders nationwide who will be receiving free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version. May God’s grace be with all those who shepherd His people, and may they be filled with wisdom and understanding through His Word.
