Gulf States Motor Home Tour
The first part of our Gulf States Motor Home Tour took place in Florida from early March to late April and yielded wonderful results: over 5,000 Bibles were distributed on over 20 colleges throughout the state. Our motor home crew traveled down the east coast of the state and then up the west coast, meeting many spiritually hungry Bible recipients along the way. The crew was particularly impressed with the openness and desire for fellowship of the many college students they met on the campuses.

After a brief rest, the tour continued on through Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. On this portion of the tour, thousands of Bibles and brochures were distributed. Along the way, the crew visited a few universities and retail centers to distribute Bibles. They had many touching experiences, especially in areas affected by last year's Hurricane Katrina. Some Bible recipients even received the Lord when they got their Bibles at the distribution table!

One crew member described the time in New Orleans as "quite an experience; [we were distributing Bibles at] a school surrounded by destruction and it looked like a war zone!" Despite the environment, our volunteers had an enjoyable time meeting many seekers of the Lord. One woman who received a Bible said that her home had been destroyed by the hurricane and she had been living in a FEMA trailer with her daughter. She said that her daughter had lost her Bible in the hurricane and would be so happy to have one. At one of the universities in New Orleans, a young student was invited to receive a free Bible. She responded, "I need that. I want to believe in something." After receiving her Bible, she repeatedly told the crew members, "Thank you so much!"

Los Angeles Times Festival of Books
Over 40 volunteers from the Los Angeles area helped at the Bibles for America (BfA) booth at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 29-30. Many others joined in prayer during the weeks before the festival. 780 Bibles were distributed and at least 850 more brochures were handed out in these 2 days. We pray that those who received a New Testament may taste life when they read their new Bibles, and that those who received a brochure will request a New Testament.

Organization Streamlining
The Bibles for America office has undertaken a major project to streamline and strengthen the organization of the company. The goal of this project is to maximize our productivity and effectiveness in fulfilling our mission to distribute free Bibles and Christian literature. We anticipate that the initial phase of this undertaking will be completed this July.

Word of Life Tour
On May 10, 2006, Bibles for America began the Word of Life Tour, composed of two simultaneous six-week motor home tours in the midwestern states. Destinations include Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, Minnesota, Indiana, and Ontario, Canada. Unlike previous tours that focused solely on distributing Bibles and brochures, this one is focused mainly on caring for Bible recipients, many of whom have requested further fellowship with BfA. Motor home crews—composed of over 50 BfA volunteers from all over the country—are taking hospitality in one city per week as they meet with local Midwest BfA volunteers, distribute Bibles, call Bible recipients, and meet Bible recipients face-to-face.

BfA Seminars
In the past year, we have held 2 seminars for our Bible recipients: one in Houston, Texas, and one in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have 3 upcoming seminars to be held this year in the West San Gabriel Valley area of California, Jackson, Mississippi, and Kansas City, Kansas. Topics covered in our seminars are "A Presentation of the Unique Features of the Recovery Version" and "Christ in the New Testament."

Please Remember in Prayer
Please pray for the Lord's blessing on the Word of Life Tour. May the Lord stir up the hearts of His seekers in the midwestern states and feed them with the Word. Also pray for our contact with those Bible recipients who requested further fellowship with us.

Pray for the Lord's blessing on the upcoming seminars in the West San Gabriel Valley, Jackson, and Kansas City.

Pray for all those who received a Bible on the Gulf States Tour; may they read their Bibles and come to know the living God in the Word.
