Follow-up Materials for BfA Volunteers
Thousands of Bible recipients have indicated interest in receiving fellowship and guidance in using their Recovery Versions. This spring BfA will make available follow-up materials to help BfA volunteers who are contacting Bible recipients in their communities. These materials will equip volunteers to visit and continue to care for the Bible recipients.
Many new home-based Recovery Version Bible studies will be formed throughout the country for those interested in joining a study group. To inquire about existing Recovery Version reading groups in your area, please send an e-mail to info@biblesforamerica.org.
Response to Mailings in Baltimore, Maryland
Volunteers in Beltsville, Maryland, and Dunn Loring, Virginia, sponsored the mailing of Bible-offer brochures to 19 zip codes in Baltimore. Over 225,000 brochures were mailed at the end of last year, giving households the opportunity to order a free New Testament Recovery Version. So far, we have seen an unusually high response to the offer, indicating that people are hungry for God’s Word.
Recent Seminar in Michigan
BfA volunteers in southeast Michigan hosted a second seminar on January 11 for local Bible recipients. The first seminar, held in November 2006, was the first in a series of gatherings that will be hosted in this area in the coming year. The most recent seminar in Farmington, Michigan, was entitled “Unlocking Your Bible” and was designed to show participants how to most effectively use the outlines, cross-references, and footnotes of the New Testament Recovery Version.
Bible Distribution in Honolulu, Hawaii
BfA volunteers in Honolulu, Hawaii, distributed Bible-offer brochures and free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version at the University of Hawaii in January during the first week of the spring semester. A Christian club on campus sponsored the event. In three days, volunteers distributed 88 Recovery Versions. Volunteers met a number of international students from Germany, Korea, China, Japan, India, the Philippines, and Tonga.
Here are some of the comments volunteers heard from students and staff members: “This will really help me to understand the Bible,” “I am praying for you, and may the Lord bless your labor,” “I will treasure this Bible.”
Please Remember in Prayer
Pray for the Lord’s move in this country in 2007. May the Spirit move throughout this country, and may God’s Word and the gospel become more and more prevailing.
Pray for the response among the people in Baltimore, Maryland, to the Bible-offer brochures that they received in the mail. Ask the Lord to turn many people to Him and to cause them to request a New Testament Recovery Version. May those in Baltimore who received free Bibles read them and be filled with life and light from God.
