December 2003
The BfA Update is intended as an encouragement for all those
laboring in the distribution of Recovery Version New Testaments throughout
America. We hope that, for everyone’s mutual encouragement, you
all will send us reports of your experiences.
From the office:
- The BfA motor home based in Tacoma, Washington
has been traveling southward along the West Coast since October. For
six weeks, the motor home made weekend trips throughout northern California
to distribute Recovery Versions and gift offer brochures at retail establishments
and college campuses. Volunteers distributed over 550 Recovery Versions
and 2250 gift offer brochures at seven different venues in the area.
By December, the motor home had traveled through southern California
to San Diego, making stops for distribution activities along the way.
- BfA is preparing a booklet to help people
use the features of the Recovery Version to understand the Bible. It
will include an illustrated guide highlighting the unique features of
the Recovery Version and also a topical index of major truths and experiences
revealed in the New Testament. The 16-page booklet will be freely distributed
to all BfA subscribers next year. Once it is available, BfA volunteers
will be able to request copies by sending an e-mail to info@biblesforamerica.org
or calling 1-888-551-0102, extension 305.
- Although Bibles for America's previously
scheduled event to distribute free Recovery Version New Testaments at
Bible Factory Outlet retail stores in November was cancelled, hundreds
of volunteers nationwide who were prepared to assist for this event
are now planning to distribute the same 10,000 Bibles at multiple venues.
Please join us to pray that all of these Bibles would be distributed
and that the Lord would bring many who are hungry for the Word of God
in contact with us.
From our volunteers:
Little Rock, Arkansas-Nine Bibles for America volunteers spent their day
off on Veterans Day (November 11) to distribute New Testament Recovery
Versions at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where classes were
in session. The volunteers set up a display table during lunchtime and
passed out 100 Bibles in one hour and forty-five minutes. Two volunteers
manned the table while the others passed out gift offer brochures and
directed students to the table to receive their free New Testaments. Seventeen
students indicated that they would like to get together with the Bibles
for America volunteers to read the Recovery Version.
From Bible recipients:
- “Thank you for sending me the New Testament
Recovery Version. I always read the Bible, but I never understand a
word of it. It's like it is written in another language. But now I can
read and comprehend every word. You make reading the Bible fun again.”
— Dallas, TX
- “The Bible opened WIDE new doors of understanding
for me. It explained things I've never been able to find through other
sources. THANK YOU for making it possible for me to receive a Recovery
Version.” — Bremerton, WA
- “I am truly touched by your organization.
It is so wonderful that you are getting an easy-to-read Word of God
out to the world. May God bless your organization and all who receive
a copy of the Recovery Version. Thank you for my copy. It's so wonderful
to finally be able to read my Bible.” — White Oak, TX
- “My thanks to all who have made it possible
to spread the Word of the Lord through your Recovery Version Bible.
It has made my Bible studies much easier. I enjoy it very much. God
bless.” — Port Angeles, WA
- “I really find the New Testament Recovery
Version Bible very helpful in my study of God's Word. Wouldn't it be
great to have the Old Testament too?” — Lemoore, CA
For your prayer:
- Please pray for our preparation of an
announcement to be sent to all of our subscribers in early 2004 regarding
the release of the Recovery Version Holy Bible (Old and New Testament
text and footnotes).
- Please pray for the preparation of a
new BfA booklet for all of our subscribers on using the Recovery Version
to better understand the Bible.
May God continue to bless America with the Recovery Version!!
