April-May 2003 Issue
The BfA Update is intended as an encouragement for all those laboring in the distribution of Recovery Version New Testaments throughout America. We hope that, for everyone’s mutual encouragement, you all will send us reports of your experiences.
 | From the office:
We have begun a special project to distribute Bibles to the country’s military personnel and families. Over the next few weeks, we will distribute 30,000 Recovery Version (RcV) New Testaments, 30,000 gospel tracts entitled “The Mystery of Human Life”, and 200,000 brochures offering the free New Testament by (1) directly supplying literature to military chaplains throughout the U.S. who in turn will forward it to troops deployed in the Middle East, and (2) using three motor homes to visit military bases throughout the country to distribute literature to military personnel and families. For more information or to find out how you can help, please visit our Internet web site. At left, a newly designed case label for the Bibles for the military is shown.

We are preparing to launch a program to mass mail gift offer brochures to households within entire U.S. zip codes. Program participants simply select a zip code or zip codes to which they would like brochures to be mailed, and send to Bibles for America a contribution of 35 cents per address in the zip code(s) (less than the cost of a first-class letter). With that 35 cents, Bibles for America designs and prints the mailers, purchases the name lists, applies the addresses, mails the brochures in compliance with U.S. Postal Service bulk mailing requirements, and purchases and ships the Bibles. For more information or to find out how you can participate, please call Bibles for America at 1-888-551-0102, extension 305.
Two staff members from the Bibles for America Irvine office traveled to New Zealand and Australia April 16-28 to fellowship with believers there about Bibles for New Zealand, which was established in early 2001, and Bibles for Australia, which should begin operation soon.
From our volunteers:
Volunteers from southern California, including young people between the ages of 5 and 14, distributed gift offer brochures and free Recovery Version New Testaments at a Wal-Mart store in Corona, California on April 13. In 4 hours, they gave away 79 Bibles!
A volunteer in Auburn, California who has 2 magnetic Bibles for America signs on her car doors offering the free Recovery Version has the opportunity to share the RcV with people at least once a week. Recently, at a busy gas station, a man approached her and asked where he could get one of “those Bibles”. He and his wife were on their way to Tahoe and “just wanted to read the Bible on the way”. Our volunteer had just given him her last RcV when another man came to ask for a free RcV. She gave him a brochure with which he could request a free Bible by mail or telephone. He went back to his car to pump gas and continued to ask her about the features of the RcV. He sincerely said, “I am really looking forward to receiving this version!” Meanwhile, these two men entered the gas station to pay for their gas. One said to the other, “Man, did you get one of these too?” As the volunteer left, the two were still fellowshipping over the RcV.

For your prayer:
Please pray for the distribution of Recovery Version New Testaments to the U.S. military. that the Lord will open the doors for us to contact chaplains and obtain access to military installations to distribute Bibles. May the Bible reach many military personnel who are seeking the Lord, and may many find nourishment in God’s Word.
Please pray for the new mailer program, that the Lord would use this means to widely offer the Recovery Version New Testament, and that many volunteers would rise up to participate in this mass distribution.
Please pray for Bibles for New Zealand and Bibles for Australia. May the volunteers in these countries be encouraged and greatly helped by the fellowship. May the Lord prepare many hearts in these two countries to receive His Word!
May God continue to bless America with the Recovery Version!!
