Tuesday,
December 4, 2001 - Before we left Jackson, Mississippi today, we split
the crew into two groups. One group traveled on to Shreveport, Louisiana
for an overnight stay there. The other headed south to Baton Rouge, the
capital of Louisiana, where a local BfA volunteer met us on the highway
and led us to Louisiana State University. At the campus, we were given
a choice parking spot next to the Student Center under some huge well-shading
oak trees. It was an inviting spot. The weather was pleasant once again
for our labor, making it easy for the students to stand and talk with
us there in the temperate breezes. Yesterday we read an article in USA
Today that said this winter's temperatures are the mildest in history
and have actually defied history. We feel the weather has been a provision
from the Lord for our labor during this whole trip, enabling us and the
people we’ve met to stand outside and spend time together.
At
eleven thirty this morning, we began passing out brochures offering a
free New Testament Recovery Version. Students streamed out of the Student
Center and walked right by the BfA motor home and our distribution tables.
There were about twelve of us today, including volunteers from the area,
and we were overwhelmed by the large numbers coming our way. Almost everyone
readily accepted our invitation to take a brochure or to get a Bible.
It
was a very profitable time. About 250 persons signed up for and immediately
received a Recovery Version. Fifteen percent of these asked us to contact
them for a regular time to study the Word. During those hours on campus,
we passed out about 1,000 pieces of literature and met many who are very
hungry and desirous to get a Recovery Version New Testament, to know more
about the Bible, and to understand it.
Thanking
Him for all things,
