Report Day 36: Wednesday, 11/21/2001

Wednesday, November 21, 2001 - This morning we regrouped at eight o'clock to prepare the caravan for the six hour trip to Raleigh, North Carolina. We had fresh prayer thanking the Lord for His faithfulness to us while we were in the Washington, D.C. area. We also asked for His continued blessing on those who received Bibles and Bibles for America offers. We prayed for our safety and for the Lord's keeping of us as we followed Him to Raleigh. Our prayer was for Him to rule and reign within us today. Christ is our source, so we joyfully come under His headship.

At nine thirty we began our journey. A couple of hours later, we stopped for lunch in Ruther Glen, Virginia. Some of us went to the truck stop restaurant while three others went to the barber shop for much needed haircuts. The barber was a dear, hungry, seeking lover of Jesus. As we spoke with her about the "Word of Truth USA" tour and mission she said, "Wow, I can't believe it. This is a divine appointment!" She told us that she had been giving out Bibles but had run out of money to buy more Bibles. She was praying for the Lord to give her a way to continue to give out Bibles. She couldn't believe that we were there. We began to sing to her the lines from the Charles Wesley hymn, "'Tis mercy all, immense and free; for O, my God it found out me!" She was almost beside herself with amazement at the Lord's bringing us there. She said, "This truck stop is a dark place and your presence here has really driven out the darkness. I feel as if I know you all from before." We really touched the reality of the Body of Christ together and read with her 1 Corinthians 12:13: "For also in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we all were given to drink one Spirit." We also read the footnote there speaking of the Spirit being the sphere and element of our spiritual baptism and that in such a Spirit we were all baptized into one organic entity, the Body of Christ.

Then we read Acts 2:21: "And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." When we read its extensive footnote with her, she reacted with gasps and joyful "ohs" at the words. We spontaneously began to sing a song about the Lord's dear name. "Oh, you sound like angels!" she said. It was a glorious little meeting in that barber shop. One of us said, "This was our best meeting of the tour so far. It was tremendous, a divine arrangement with joy unspeakable and full of glory." She was so affected that tears of joy rolled down her face, and she could barely cut the third volunteer's hair. Hallelujah for the Body of Christ. We left her with three Bibles, one for herself and two to give away and a lot of BfA material. She is now a BfA supporter in Ruther Glen, Virginia.

There were several other people at that truck stop just waiting for the Lord to appoint this time for us to meet them. We gave out nine Bibles to seven people. One person was on his way home from his father's funeral. After we gave him a Bible he said, "You made my day. Thanks." Another said, "What you are doing is very good." After we gave a woman a BfA offer she said, "I wish I could quit my job this minute and go on that tour with you."

Some of us didn't get our physical food then, but we truly experienced the Lord Jesus' word in John 4:32: "I have food to eat that you do not know about."

In the evening we arrived in Raleigh full of joy and thankfulness to the Lord for His faithfulness and plan for this day.

Worshipping the Lord Jesus on the throne,
The "Word of Truth USA" Crew
