Report Day 27: Monday, 11/12/2001

Monday - November 12, 2001 - This morning the Lord heard our desperate prayers for His leading after an American Airlines aircraft went down in Queens. Because of the plane crash, the roads and bridges leading into the city were closed, preventing us from reaching our intended destinations. Out of our prayer together and in the fellowship of the Body, we felt the Lord was leading us back to both Princeton and Rutgers Universities to distribute more BfA brochures offering a free New Testament Recovery Version.

Hallelujah! We praise and thank the Lord for the seeking ones He sent our way:

  • Today we met a retired Princeton University instructor who had already mailed in a brochure he received from us on Saturday (11/10). He told us of his frustration with what he thought was a discrepancy in Matthew 1:17 regarding the genealogy of the Lord Jesus. After we read the footnote on the verse to him, he was so excited and responded by saying, "Boy, am I glad I ordered that Bible!"
  • A volunteer handed a brochure to a student who was riding by on his bicycle. The student suddenly skidded to a stop to ask whether it was okay if he got a free Bible even if he didn't believe in the Lord Jesus. The volunteer spent the next few minutes preaching the gospel to the student who listened and eventually took home a gospel booklet and a New Testament Recovery Version.
  • A volunteer spoke to a young man from Bulgaria who happened to be making several deliveries in the area where we were handing out brochures. After rejecting a number of offers for a free New Testament as he encountered different volunteers, he finally asked a volunteer, "Why are you so confident in this God?" The volunteer replied, "Because He lives in me!" and preached the gospel to him. The young man eventually took a gospel booklet and a Bible.
  • Yet another example of the Lord's marvelous arrangement in having us park the motor home next to the Rutgers Student Union was that of a young woman who saw the motor home, came to the table, and said, "What I need is something to help me understand what I read in the Bible. I'm so discouraged." After we read a footnote to her, she filled out a card to receive a New Testament Recovery Version and exclaimed, "I'm so excited! I can't wait to read it!"

Many others expressed the same joy and excitement after reading a footnote or two. These spiritually hungry ones were very thankful for our labor of love in spreading the truth of the Word of God. Their eager response continues to be the greatest encouragement to all of us on the "Word of Truth USA" tour.

Under the Lord's leading and blessing today, we passed out today a little more than 10,000 pieces of literature and 459 Bibles.

Holding our dear Head, Christ,
The "Word of Truth USA" Crew
