| Friday, November 9, 2001 - We began this day by gathering at nine o'clock in the morning for prayer and fellowship. We were greatly encouraged to see the many new faces of those from throughout the country who came to join us to distribute the New Testament Recovery Version in New York City. Together we prayed over Colossians 1:12 and 13: "Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you for a share of the allotted portion of the saints in the light; who delivered us out of the authority of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love." After a time of strong prayer for the Lord's work, we had brief fellowship about the day's activities and then distributed BfA material to the volunteers.
After readjusting our route and offering up more prayers, we finally made it to downtown New York. We would like to thank the New York Police Department for controlling traffic so we could get to our destination uneventfully. By the Lord's mercy we found an excellent location very close to Ground Zero and right cross the street from City Hall Park. The minute we set up our table next to the motor home there was a flood of people wanting their free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version. In a very short time we gave away our supply of Bibles.
One gentleman came to see what we were doing. After a brief discussion with us, he quickly recognized the value of the Recovery Version New Testament. He asked how long we would be there and said that he would return after attending a meeting. He told us that he worked for the New York Police Department helping families and felt that the Recovery Version would really meet the need. After an hour he returned and took 25 brochures and a free New Testament Recovery Version. He intends to give the brochures to the members of his department to help them with the families they contact. He was very thankful for what we had and what we were doing. May the Lord bless all those in the NYPD and the families they contact. Many NYPD officers as well as members of the FDNY came to get their complimentary copies of the Recovery Version.
The eager response to our gift offer today in New York City heartened us greatly. In the time were there, with the help of nearly 100 volunteers, we passed out over 18,000 offers and over 100 Recovery Version New Testaments. At three thirty we packed up and left for Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Some BfA supporters had invited us to a gospel meeting at the Busch Student Union tonight, which we were glad to attend. After the meeting, we drove the motor home in search of a service station. We were unsuccessful in that regard, but while we were at a truck stop, a middle-aged woman ran up to the motor home exclaiming that she had just been looking at the BfA Web site and was astounded to see the motor home drive by. She was so excited to see us. We gave her a New Testament Recovery Version. How we marvel at the Lord's sovereignty in things great and small. We realized that our looking for a service station was just so this seeker could get the word of the truth found in the Recovery Version. Thank you, Lord, for all the blessings of this day! In
the kingdom of the Son of His love,
