Report Day 8: Wednesday, 10/24/2001

Wednesday, October 24 2001 - This morning we met for fellowship and prayer with some local volunteers. We formed into teams, and at 12:30 P.M. we arrived at the Auraria campus complex of three colleges: University of Colorado at Denver, Metropolitan State University, and the City College of Denver. For the next three hours we distributed BfA brochures to the students. In all, we passed out 2,438 pieces of literature. We directed many to our minivan where we gave seventy-four students a New Testament right on the spot.

A team member approached a group of four girls with our brochures offering the free New Testament Recovery Version. One of the girls was exceptionally responsive to our speaking and said, "Oh, you're a missionary! May I hug you?" All four went away happily with the BfA brochures.

Some of those we approached told us that they already had several Bible versions already. However, when we showed them particular footnotes, they saw the value of the Recovery Version and wanted one. Many even thanked us for our work and our gift offers.

We estimate that seventy five percent of the students we approached received our literature. Their receptiveness encouraged us very much and confirmed to us that college students today are hungry for the Bible. One student said that what we are doing is very timely because people are more open to the Bible after what happened on September 11. It really appears that the fields are "already white for harvest" (John 4:35).

While most of the team members were at the Auraria campus complex, a few of us went to the 16th Street Mall in Denver's downtown area. Shortly after we got there, a woman riding a bicycle stopped and asked whether she could help us. She told us that she had recently lost her job for passing out Bibles at work. Although the reception in this area was not as great as on the campus, we passed out 222 literature packs.

We gathered together again at four o'clock to rest, review the day's experiences, and have dinner. After dinner, we met together for an audiovisual presentation of the "Word of Truth USA" tour and prayer. Many local volunteers then helped us prepare brochures for use tomorrow. We were all encouraged by Daniel 11:32: "The people who know their God will show strength and take action."

Empowered in the Lord and in the might of His strength,
The "Word of Truth USA" Crew
