Report Day 10: Friday, 10/26/2001

Friday, October 26, 2001 - We left Denver around eight thirty this morning headed for Kansas. We rejoice that three more crew members joined us for the tour while we were in Denver, bringing our number to twelve. Two are from Denver and one flew in from Providence, Rhode Island specifically to join us.

While stopped for lunch at the Wal-mart parking lot in Colby, Kansas, a man from Hoxie, Kansas came aboard the mobile home. He said, "Hey, I just saw this bus and was wondering what you all are doing." We told him about the mission of Bibles for America and showed him some footnotes from the Recovery Version New Testament. He was very impressed, and for the next 15 minutes, we enjoyed rich fellowship over some of the truths in the Word. At that point he paused and said, "You guys just don't understand. It's not every day that you walk into a place and everyone can expound the Word of God."

As we fellowshipped over the Word, sang some hymns, and ate lunch, we felt as if this was the type of meeting the early believers had in Acts. Together we enjoyed the Lord's presence so much that this brother did not want to leave. He made comments such as, "You guys are all clones—you all speak the same thing," "I wasn't intending to go to Colby today," "Now I know what it means by living waters coming out of your innermost being."

We provided him with a Recovery Version of his own, a good assortment of literature, a BfA button, a "Word of Truth USA" bumper sticker, and a BfA cap. As he was leaving he said, "Now I have to go preach the gospel." Right before we met him, a few of us had prayed along the way, "Lord, do something beyond what we can ask or think. Do something unprecedented in Colby. We pray that the people would be attracted to us and that they would see our motor home." Only twenty minutes after this prayer, the Lord brought this brother to our motor home. Just as the Lord had to pass through Samaria to meet the woman at the well (John 4:4), we believe the Lord led us to Colby to meet this brother.

We traveled further east and arrived at the Rock Springs 4-H Club retreat camp a few miles from Junction City, Kansas at around seven thirty in the evening. There, we presented the details of the Word of Truth USA cross-country tour to a group of forty young people and the adults accompanying them for their retreat.

We plan to leave for Lawrence, Kansas in the morning.

For the spread of His truth,
The "Word of Truth USA" Crew
