Thursday,
October 18, 2001 - After our arrival in Fresno last night at ten o'clock
we were graciously given hospitality overnight with the two brothers who
met us upon our arrival. This
morning we left Fresno at six thirty and arrived in San Francisco at ten
thirty. During the trip to San Francisco, six of the crew members in the
motor home prepared 1,000 gift packets of BfA material for a distribution
time in San Francisco from 11:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Our caravan pulled up in front of City Hall, and we immediately began
setting up our literature distribution tables. As we began, we were joined
by nine brothers and sisters in Christ from the San Francisco area.
We
chose to set up our distribution base near City Hall in the downtown area
so we could reach a large number of people. Scores of people passing by
were greeted by our smiles and a gift offer of a New Testament Recovery
Version (RcV). What a joy it was for us to talk to so many people about
the Bible and to give them an opportunity to come to the full knowledge
of the truth (1 Tim. 2:4) contained in it! We handed out gift packets,
wallet cards, BfA newsletters, bookmarks, RcV reading schedules, RcVs,
and text-only pocket-sized New Testaments. At four o'clock we arrived
at Embarcadero Plaza near the ferry landing and set up "shop"
there to distribute large amounts of literature. Altogether, in both places
we passed out over 1,000 wallet cards (offering a free RcV), 50 RcVs,
75 gift packets, and about 200 text-only RcVs.
Even though
most people were rushing to lunches and meetings and going home, a good
number responded favorably to our offer of a free New Testament. We were
able to contact a broad spectrum of people, from the homeless to a prominent
city official. Many encouraged us with their positive responses and their
support of our effort.
