Though
there were many vendors inside the IMAX Entertainment Complex, we
were placed in a prime location in front of the restaurant in the
center of the mall. From ten o’clock until noon, we distributed
81 Bibles.
- About 26 people who were part of a tour bus of senior citizens
from Virginia received Recovery Versions.
- A woman at the jewelry stand turned down our offer at least
twice but continued to watch us from a distance. She finally asked
to look at the Recovery Version, and after a volunteer explained
the features to her, she happily filled out the request card.
A
pastor came to receive a Bible and wanted more for his young disciples’
class. He had moved here recently to start a church and had gathered
a group of young people to study the Bible. He said that he was
looking for a Bible that was not “full of religious stuff”
but was just full of the pure Word of God. He wanted to know how
he could obtain a quantity of Recovery Versions, but since each
person must personally order a Bible, we gave him about 40 brochures
to give to the youth.
Later in the day, we contacted a former chaplain of Fort Leonard
Wood who is now a Baptist pastor. He ate breakfast with us on Friday,
and then, because we did not have identification tags on the motor
home, he drove all of us onto the base in his church van. We gave
40 Bibles to the military personnel there and told them they could
order more Bibles through Bibles for America’s Web site.
