Monday, May 5, 2003—Western Kentucky University

Volunteers from Nashville, Tennessee, Louisville, Murray, and Bowling Green, Kentucky joined our motor home crew as we went to Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green today. Though students were taking final exams, we distributed 370 Bibles!

  • We had already taken down our display table when three students approached us and wanted Bibles. After we finished loading the motor home and shut the door, two girls knocked on the door wanting a Bible. They both joined us in the motor home while one filled out a request card. The other had received her Bible earlier and told us how excellent it was and that she had already been reading the footnotes. The girls said that they are both going to Thailand together this summer on a mission trip.
  • A volunteer spoke with a professor, who seemed disinterested in the free Recovery Version New Testament at first. He hesitated as the volunteer explained that the Recovery Version contained over 9,000 footnotes and over 13,000 cross-references. After hearing more about the translation, he became very enthusiastic about receiving the Recovery Version and thanked us profusely.
  • Some international students also received Bibles. A girl from Bangkok, Thailand received a Bible and took some gift offer brochures to give to her family. We also spoke with a young man from India for quite a while about the Lord Jesus; he also received a Bible.
