Bibles for America was established in 2000 after much prayer and fellowship among a group of Christians in southern California. In spring 2000 Bibles for America set up its office in Irvine, California, and began a preliminary effort to distribute free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version in southern California. Volunteers canvassed many neighborhoods to hang brochures on doors, and soon after, responses to the free offer flooded in. Bibles for America has since grown to include volunteer distributors in over 160 cities across the U.S.

BfA card offering a free New Testament Recovery Version |
|
Bibles for America has passed out millions of brochures offering a free New Testament Recovery Version. We have given away over 430,000 copies of the New Testament Recovery Version. Reception in America to this new study Bible has far surpassed our original expectation. Even more encouraging to us are the oft-repeated words of appreciation, “The Recovery Version helps me understand the Bible!”
In fall 2004 Bibles for America began offering Bible recipients a series of free Christian literature that includes the books Basic Elements of the Christian Life, vols. 1-3, The All-inclusive Christ, and The Glorious Church.
The Bibles for America staff in our Irvine office oversees the administrative, planning, marketing, distribution, information technology, and customer service areas. Our distribution center located near Los Angeles is run entirely by volunteers. BfA is funded solely by contributions, which are tax-deductible according to Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3).
